Maternity Portrait FAQ

When is the best time to schedule maternity photos?

Most maternity sessions are photographed between 28 and 34 weeks. This is usually when the baby bump is clearly visible, but movement is still comfortable. Every pregnancy is different, so the best time depends on your energy, comfort, and personal preference.

Is it too early to reach out during the first trimester?

No. The first trimester is not too early to start planning. The session itself usually happens later, but early planning gives you more flexibility with timing, wardrobe, and style.

What if I feel camera-shy?

That is very common. You do not need to know how to pose or feel confident before the session. You will be guided throughout the experience so you can relax into the process.

What should I wear for maternity photos?

Wardrobe depends on the style you want. Some mothers prefer soft, simple, and timeless looks. Others want something more dramatic or artistic. We will talk through clothing, dress options, color, comfort, and what photographs well.

Can my partner or children be included?

Yes. Your session can include portraits of you alone and portraits with your partner, children, or family. Many mothers choose a mix of individual maternity portraits and family connection images. The goal is to create a balanced experience that honors both motherhood and the family you are becoming.

Are maternity photos safe during pregnancy?

Sessions are planned around comfort and safety. Posing is gentle, and we work within your energy level and physical limits. You should always follow medical guidance from your healthcare provider.

Do I need professional hair and makeup?

Hair and makeup are optional. Some mothers enjoy the added confidence and polish. Others prefer a more natural look. The right choice is the one that helps you feel most comfortable.

Do you offer studio or outdoor maternity sessions?

Depending on availability and season, maternity portraits may be created in studio-style settings or outdoors. New England weather, comfort, privacy, and the look you want will all help guide the best option.

What if I do not feel beautiful during pregnancy?

You are not alone. Many expecting mothers feel unsure in a changing body. A maternity portrait experience is not about pretending everything feels perfect. It is about being seen with care during a meaningful season.

How do I start?
